A Canvas Overview and Orientation--Welcome!

In this Canvas Overview you'll find a series of videos and articles that allow to you to discover some nuts-and-bolts of Canvas LMS.   

Browser Minimum Requirements

Sometimes there is an small "Minimum Browser Requirement" warning that pops up, even if you're using Chrome.  It's safe; just click X on the warning and continue forward.   

The First Quiz

The orientation quiz isn't supposed to be an obstacle to you; rather we hope that you fly through it and feel confident that you already have some of the basic computer know-how to thrive as a Canvas-wielding professional educator.  Once you've gone successfully through that short quiz, all the rest of this course will unlock.

Canvas Training

Then comes a module of Canvas Training pages with embedded videos and links to articles.  Take your time.  Visit each of those pages.  Watch some of the videos all the way through and watch every single video (there are approximately 20) at least a little bit.  Some videos are from the student's perspective, and we think this is important for all of our teachers to see.  The Completion Quiz at the end is based off of this Module.

There are more modules, each dedicated to an aspect of Canvas design, provided as a step-by-step of nuts and bolts--tools that you can use to create your courses.

Completion Quiz

Finally, take the Completion Quiz at the end that will unlock a registration form.  In this way, the district/school will know you  are ready to  be a course designer with your own digital space/classroom.  Keep the link to this course of tutorials, though, because you can come back and learn more once you have your own space to work in.
